Celebrate the 4th of July with a festive and delicious American Flag Cake, adorned with fresh strawberries and blueberries.

Ingredients

  • 1 baked and cooled quarter sheet cake (such as vanilla sheet cake)
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 4 and 1/2 cups (540g) confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1/2 cup (70g) fresh blueberries
  • 23 cups (380–560g) halved fresh strawberries

Instructions

  1. Bake the cake by preparing a 9×13-inch quarter sheet cake in your favorite flavor, allowing it to cool completely.
  2. Make the frosting by mixing softened butter, confectioners’ sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Frost the cake with about two-thirds of the frosting using an offset spatula for a smooth finish.
  4. Decorate the cake by placing blueberries in the top left corner and arranging halved strawberries to create stripes.
  5. Pipe additional frosting between the blueberries and strawberries for a finished look.
  6. Slice the cake and serve to your guests, covering any leftovers to store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
